When it comes to makeup, what’s in one season is so two thousand and late the next. While we may think we’re rocking ‘a look’ or that our face-beat is on point, the trendiest influencers may disagree.
Makeup artist and Instagram influencer Lindy Lin is always looking flawless from hair to pedicured toes and the trend we’ve noticed with her tutorials is that 2021 is the year of ‘less is more.’
Eyes
Eyes aren’t heavily lined, and smokiness is softer with a lighter hand and shade. Filling in of the brow is also soft with a more naturally filled in brow.
The solid brow is no longer the trend to follow. Eyelashes are a must with most influencers enhancing their eye look with fluttering lashes. Nothing too long.
Foundation and coverage
Gone are the days where you needed just one shade of foundation and coverage was a matter of lathering it onto your face.
The key to contouring is to blend, blend, blend.
Radio personality Kamo Moth is also one of the trendiest women when it comes to nailing makeup looks. The public figure and influencer looks effortlessly flawless whether on a red carpet or hosting talks with celebrities.
Definitely one personality to follow for inspiration.
Lips
Nude, natural pinks, and mild browns are the trends for 2021. With darker colours reserved for a night out or a rare occasion, you want a more dramatic look. Matte is still the go-to for lipsticks as we’re going for a longer, more durable wear.
Skin
The key to the 2021 makeup trend is for your skin to shine through. We’re going for the natural look and skin that looks hydrated and healthy is the aim. It’s not about plastering on layers of heavy makeup to hide imperfections. It’s more about light coverage and accentuating features.
