The family of apartheid activist Ahmed Timol says they hope former apartheid era security police officer Joao Rodrigues will fully disclose the details surrounding Timol’s death.
80 year old Rodrigues arrived at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court after a warrant of arrest was issued for him.
Last year the North Gauteng High Court found that Timol died at the hands of security police while in detention.
This ruling overturned an original finding over 40 years ago that concluded that Timol had jumped to his death.
Speaking on Breakfast with David Timol’s nephew Imtiaz Cajee says Rodrigues must tell the truth in order for there to be reconciliation…
Rodrigues is out on R2 000 bail – his case has been postponed to September 18 at the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.
