The ANC in Gauteng has told the suspended presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko to step down from her position as a provincial executive committee (PEC) member.
On Tuesday evening, the Mail & Guardian reported that the provincial disciplinary committee (PDC) found Diko guilty of bringing the ANC into disrepute. The party also recommends that she extend her special leave from the presidency.
The former health MEC Dr Bandile Masuku and Diko were involved in a Covid-19 personal protective equipment (PPE) scandal in 2020 after the provincial health department awarded a multimillion-rand tender to Royal Bhaca.
He was implicated after his department awarded multimillion-rand tenders to Royal Bhaca, a company owned by Thandisizwe Diko, the late husband to Khusela Diko.
ANC spokesperson Bones Modise said that despite Masuku confirming he was asked to step aside, the party was yet to deal with the report.
