AKA has noticed an influx of female DJs in the entertainment industry. The ‘Tears Run Dry‘ rapper took to his Instagram Story recently to get something off his chest.
“Not so long ago every second hun was a rapper. Now everyone’s a DJ,” he wrote.

Some Twitter users thought his comment was shady.
“Men with thinking they own certain spaces …how many male DJs and rappers do we have in SA? Few ladies trending for being DJs now he is saying every hun is a DJ mxm he shouldn’t bore us,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another user added: “Men who dictate what profession women should choose.”

But AKA’s fans believe he did not mean any harm with his remarks.
“I doubt AKA meant any malice with that post. Yall are just trippin. And also none of yall can say he’s lying,” one man commented.
why is it a problem.. he simply pointed out something he observed. Apparently in his eyes, every second hun wants to be a dj…

He doesn’t mean any harm honestly, people gravitate towards the bag, who knows kwaito might be trending next year (not saying it died🤷🏾♀️) and people will go there. Ku nzima, people want bread🍞

Rapper Drake started following Uncle Waffles after the viral moment. Pearl Thusi, Anele Mdoda, and several other local stars also showed her some love.
But some Twitter users were less than impressed.
“Being a female DJ these days only requires looks and some sexy dance moves. Nobody cares about your mixing,” one Twitter user claimed.
DJ Zinhle came to the defence of Uncle Waffles and other female DJs.
“So sad that you chose to reduce the growth of the female DJ industry to this… I definitely don’t agree with you. I’m actually loving how the girls are making it their own and dominating. Surely there’s something to celebrate here…” she replied.
