The largest travel and tourism exhibition on the African continent, the Africa Travel Indaba, is currently underway in Durban. The 2018 edition was opened by Minister of Tourism, Mr Derek Hanekom, yesterday. Hanekom rang the bell, signals the start of trading between various exhibitors from across the word. According to the minister, this gesture in significant because it symbolises that our continent is open for tourism business.
“The African continent is one of warmth and diversity. We are one as humanity and we will express it on the continent” said Minister Derek Hanekom
After the ceremonial ringing of the bell, Minister Hanekom, along with CEO of South African Tourism Sisa Ntshona, visited the different stands and they were ushered by a choir that sang and chanted celebratory songs.
