Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that only people who have been vaccinated or have recently tested negative for COVID-19 will be allowed in shopping malls, restaurants, gyms, public parks and other entertainment facilities.
The second biggest of the seven emirates in the UAE, Abu Dhabi says these rules will apply from 15 June. Visitors will have to prove they have been vaccinated by showing their status on the country’s COVID-19 app, which displays a person’s vaccination and testing history. The app shows green if the individual has been vaccinated or tested negative.
People who have not been vaccinated or do not want to be vaccinated will need to be tested every three days to maintain their green status.
This follows an announcement in May that only people who can prove that they have been vaccinated can attend weddings and other social activities.
