British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award-winning actress Michaela Coel has joined the cast of the much-anticipated Marvel Black Panther sequel, ‘Wakanda Forever.’
Ever since news of production for the sequel broke, fans have been eagerly awaiting breadcrumbs on new castings and updates on the movie that will be a fitting tribute to late Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman.
Michaela joining the cast has brought on a wave of speculation over her role and story arch in the franchise with many fans, myself include predicting that she will play Madam Slay, a lover and ally of Black Panther’s main antagonist, Erik Killmonger.
In the popular comics, Madam Slay has the ability to command leopards and revives Killmonger. If fan theories on her casting character are correct the on-screen dynamics between Killmonger played by Micheal B. Jordan will be sensational.

However, another theory is that Michaela has been roped in to replace Letitia Wright as Shuri. According to TMZ, Letitia’s recent social media activity may have cost her the role of T’Challa’s little sister in the MCU.
Letitia received backlash for her anti-vax and transphobic videos on her Twitter account, and liking tweets that called for her to be recast in the Black Panther sequel. She has since deleted her Twitter account.
Whatever Michaela’s role in the Black Panther sequel, Marvel fans united cannot wait.
