A sandstorm that lifted at least 100 metres (330ft) has left a city in northwestern China covered in dust.
Videos of Dunhuang show the wall of sand slowly creeping over buildings and highways. The town is located on the edge of the Gobi Desert, which is known for its harsh climates.

Traffic was halted and more than 400 flights out of the capital’s two main airports were cancelled.
Beijing faces regular sandstorms in March and April because it is also close to the Gobi Desert, as well as due to the effects of deforestation and soil erosion throughout northern China.
