A video of JMPD officers allegedly abusing and harassing a street vendor before arresting her has surfaced, and been brought to the attention of JMPD management.
The video clip was shared by Mmusi Maimane and was taken by a passerby who saw the incident unfold.
With the high levels of unemployment that we are facing, we should not be penalizing entrepreneurs.

In the video clip, the street vendor can be seen visibly distraught at the manner in which she was being manhandled and threatened with arrest by the JMPD officers for selling her goods on the side of the road.
The complainant claims that the officers tried to solicit a bribe from the vendor for not having permission for her stall on the roadside.
City of Jo’burg issued a media statement that a preliminary investigation has been initiated with the JMPD Internal Affairs Unit.
