This week Volkswagen South Africa launched their 6th generation Polo in South Africa. We have gathered a few facts which may give you a clue as to why the car sells really well in South Africa and probably why it is on the top list of the most hijacked cars.

We were invited to Port Elizabeth when the car was launched and VW blames the insurance industry on the high number of hijackings on their product. According to VW South Africa General communications manager Matt Gennrich, they are certain VW cars are safe and not easy while stationery so thieves usually opt for hijacking them.

The maker has completely transformed the locally produced 6th generation Polo with an aim of not just expanding its customer base but also bringing a fresh and funky vibe to the mix. The new Polo has adopted VW’s new design language recently seen on the stunning Arteon with a body-colour grille top, LED daytime lights (all models, even the Trendline, get these), LED headlights, aggressive lower air intake with fog lamps.
