About the book
In the new biography, Zakes Mda takes a closer look at the life of Chris Hani, drawing on years of research and interviews with his family, comrades, and political contemporaries.
The book follows Hani’s journey from his childhood in Cofimvaba to his political awakening, his involvement in the Wankie Campaign and his role in the struggle against apartheid, including his time directing underground operations from Lesotho.
Mda also looks beyond the public image of Hani, exploring the relationships, sacrifices and personal experiences that shaped him, including his commitment to his family, comrades and the fight for justice.
