The third suspect in the Reiger Park mass shooting that left four people dead has also alleged that he was assaulted by police officers during his arrest, echoing the sentiments of the second suspect, who also claimed he was assaulted during his arrest.
Third suspect, 27-year-old Elvino Crafford, appeared before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 21 August 2026, following his swift arrest.
“The latest arrest brings to three the number of suspects who have been identified and charged in connection with the killings. The 27-year-old suspect faces charges similar to those of his co-accused, one of whom is reportedly a relative,” said Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale.
Crafford is related to alleged gang member Regan Collins, who is also linked to the brutal killing of two police officers and two women in Reiger Park, East Rand.
Crafford, Collins and Jamal Meyer face four counts of murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
During the court proceedings on Friday, the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court ordered the 27-year-old to receive treatment for injuries he allegedly suffered at the hands of police.
Crafford showed the court two visible bruises on his face, while his lawyer, Samkele Kuzani, said he also suffered injuries to his body.
Crafford, Collins and Meyer are expected to apply for bail next Tuesday.
“Crafford’s case was also postponed to 25 August 2026 for a formal bail application in the same court with his co-accused. The accused alleged that he was assaulted by police and requested medical treatment whilst in custody,” Mogale added.
