- Extensive road closures and traffic delays are expected around 10bet Ellis Park Stadium ahead of the Springboks vs New Zealand rugby match on Saturday.
- The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) will deploy officers from 06:00 to 23:00 to manage traffic and enforce closures from Friday night.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has issued a travel warning detailing major road closures and traffic management measures around 10bet Ellis Park Stadium in New Doornfontein for Saturday’s clash between the Springboks and the All Blacks.
Road closures will begin at 22:00 on Friday, 21 August, and remain in place until 22:00 on Saturday, with officers alongside Traffic Free Flow personnel managing the area from 06:00 to 23:00 on match day.
Affected roads & closed intersections
Motorists should note that primary routes surrounding the venue will be shut, including Joe Slovo Drive, Saratoga Avenue, Bertrams Road, Albertina Sisulu Road, Siemert Street, Sivewright Avenue, Currey Street, Beit Street, Charlton Terrace, Van Beek Street, Susie Street, Erin Street, Miller Street, Voorhout Street, and 4th Street.
Additionally, nineteen major intersections will be completely blocked to through traffic:
- Albertina Sisulu Street at the Gous Street, Dawe Street, and Princess Street junctions
- Bertrams Road at the Voorhout Street, Fitzroy Street, and Erin Street junctions
- Sivewright Avenue at the Susie Street, Currey Street, and Beit Street junctions
- Miller Street at the Upper Rail Street, 9th Street, Park Street, and South Park Lane / 4th Street junctions
- Charlton Terrace & Van Beek Street
- Siemert Street & Currey Street
- Beit Street & Dora Street
- Beit/Park Street & Erin Street
- South Park Parkade Access
- South Park Lane & 5th Street
“The JMPD appeals to all road users to cooperate with traffic authorities, adhere to traffic regulations, and exercise patience during this period.”
Drivers are strongly urged to avoid the surrounding precinct and utilise the M1 and M2 highways as alternative routes.
To combat severe traffic congestion and limited stadium parking, authorities recommend that supporters take advantage of public transport. Gautrain services will run to Park Station, connecting directly to PRASA train links to Ellis Park Station.
Furthermore, e-hailing drop-offs will be restricted to Umjantshi House on Wolmarans Street, while dedicated park-and-ride buses will operate from major hubs across Gauteng between 13:00 and 15:00, with final return trips departing the stadium by 20:00.
