SABC 1 has announced that, from Monday, 27 July, popular South African soapies Uzalo and Generations: The Legacy will swap time slots.
The move will see Uzalo take over the coveted 8pm slot, while Generations: The Legacy shifts to 8:30pm, a first in more than 30 years for the long-running show.
In a statement on Monday, 20 July, the broadcaster said the move will not affect either programme’s prime-time status.
SABC 1 Channel Head Ofentse Thinane assured viewers that the soapies are simply trading places and are not leaving the prime-time slot.
“Uzalo and Generations built these evenings together, and both remain exactly where they belong, at the heart of SABC 1 prime time. From 27 July, they simply trade places.
“Viewers will continue to enjoy both programmes back-to-back. Generations: The Legacy is not stepping out of prime time. It is closing it,” Thinane explained.
This is what the SABC 1 weeknight drama line-up will look like from Monday, 27 July:
- Skeem Saam – 7:30pm
- Uzalo – 8pm
- Generations: The Legacy – 8:30pm
The public broadcaster added that more programming changes will be announced after the new line-up begins on 27 July.
