The veteran actor reportedly died on Tuesday evening, 15 July 2026.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, colleagues and everyone whose lives he touched. May his legacy live on through the stories he told and the countless artists he inspired,” the post read.
According to a statement released by his family, Sebogodi died from complications related to diabetes.
The actor was known for the memorable and often humorous characters he portrayed on South African television.
From playing Nkwesheng, the womaniser in Bophelo Ke Semphego, which aired on SABC 2, to becoming a Gen Z favourite as Kenneth Mashaba on Generations, which aired on SABC 1, Sebogodi remained one of the country’s most recognisable actors.
Earlier this month, the veteran actor sparked concern among fans after a photograph of him looking frail and disorientated circulated on social media.
In the picture, he appeared noticeably frail, with his appearance and clothing prompting widespread concern online.
However, according to media reports, there was no cause for alarm, as Sebogodi was simply in character for his role in a theatre production staged at this year’s National Arts Festival in Makhanda, Eastern Cape.
His family has requested privacy as they mourn this immense loss and navigate this difficult time together.
Tributes continue to pour in from industry colleagues, friends and fans.
