- IDAC has dismissed reports that Crime Intelligence boss General Dumisani Khumalo was arrested on Thursday.
- The agency says neither Khumalo nor any other Crime Intelligence official has been arrested.
- The denial comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Khumalo, who is facing allegations linked to irregular appointments and has previously faced fraud and corruption charges.
The Investigative Directorate Against Crime (IDAC) has denied media reports circulating about the alleged arrest of the Head of Crime Intelligence, General Dumisani Khumalo.
This comes after several media houses reported that Khumalo had been arrested on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
“We wish to set the record straight that General Khumalo has not been arrested, nor has anyone else from Crime Intelligence,” said IDAC spokesperson Henry Mamothame.
Some media reports claimed that Khumalo was being processed at a police station in Pretoria.
It was further reported that Khumalo’s lawyer was present at the police station.
Khumalo was reinstated as head of Crime Intelligence last year following his arrest on fraud and corruption charges.
Khumalo and six colleagues face allegations by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) of manipulating appointments, including the controversial hiring of 30-year-old Dineo Mokwele, who had no policing background.
