- A KwaZulu-Natal woman was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on the N2 during Youth Day celebrations.
- The suspect reportedly crashed into road infrastructure, drove into oncoming traffic, and behaved aggressively towards road officials.
- She is expected to appear in court on 17 June 2026, while the MEC prepares to address youth-related road accidents.
A young woman from KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has earned herself a criminal record after allegedly placing other road users’ lives in danger by driving under the influence of alcohol on Youth Day, 16 June 2026.
The suspect was allegedly so intoxicated that she smashed into road infrastructure and veered into oncoming traffic along the N2.
She further went on to disrespect road officials when they attempted to arrest her.
During the confrontation, she allegedly asked officials if they knew who she was.
Following her unruly behaviour, she was immediately arrested and is due to appear in court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
The MEC is expected to issue a formal statement on road accidents involving young people, particularly during the month of June.
