uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma has been linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein following fresh disclosures from the United States Justice Department.
According to Daily Maverick, emails reveal that Epstein arranged an intimate dinner for Zuma in London during his 2010 UK state visit, hosted at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II.
An account from the British Royal Household at the time detailed Zuma’s itinerary. Zuma and his wife, Tobeka Madiba Zuma, stayed at Buckingham Palace for two nights and attended banquets on both evenings.
The documents, which span nearly three million pages and were released on Friday, 23 January, have cast new light on Zuma’s final evening in London.
The former South African president reportedly had an intimate dinner with Epstein and a Russian model.
There had previously been no indication that Zuma and Epstein were connected in any way.
The Jacob Zuma Foundation has rejected what it calls attempts to smear the former president’s reputation.
Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi said they would not participate in speculative narrative-building.
“The attempt to smear President Zuma by proximity to the unrelated crimes of a third party is unethical, irresponsible and intellectually dishonest. The Jacob Zuma Foundation will not participate in speculative narrative-building disguised as investigative journalism. The matter is closed,” he said.
