Biri Marung hitmaker Tebogo G Mashego has spoken out following an incident that left many of his supporters worried.
Last week, the 23-year-old was taken in by police after members of the community described his behaviour as “abnormal.”
In a video shared online, Tebogo apologised to his fans for his actions.
“Please forgive me,” he said. “God is alive and thank you to everyone who had me in their prayers.”
Tebogo’s family has also issued an official statement, expressing their gratitude to fans and the South African public for their concern and support.
“We would be remiss if we did not start by thanking the public of South Africa, especially Tebogo’s fans, for the outpouring of love and support you have shown over the past week. Your concerns and messages of love and support have not gone unnoticed.”
The family further asked for privacy as they process the events of the past week.
“As the family of Tebogo Mashego, we respectfully request time and privacy to come to terms with the recent incident involving our child. We kindly ask that the public and media allow us the space we need during this difficult period. However, we ask that you keep him in your prayers. At this stage, no further statements will be issued. Should there be any updates, they will be communicated by the family at the appropriate time.”
They also stressed that any information not directly released by the family should be regarded as unauthoritative.
“Furthermore, we request that no media, friends, or colleagues attempt to visit Tebogo. Access will be limited strictly to immediate family members only. We trust that this request will be met with compassion, respect, and understanding. Thank you.”
