Reality TV star Ratile Mabitsela has been using her Instagram page to share her family’s journey of healing after the heartbreaking loss of her husband and her children’s father.
Ratile has been open about her process, explaining that speaking about her grief and immersing herself in activities she enjoys have played a big role in her recovery.
On Saturday, she and her three babies set out for a fun-filled morning at a school race. Her sons completed the 5 km race, while she and her daughter proudly finished the 3 km run.
“Woke up very early for a Saturday but it was all worth it — fun activities and burning some calories while at it. Thori was keen on 5 km’s but we, the girls in this family, are more of 3 km’s type of girls. We’d rather lift 5 kg weights than run 5 km’s,” she joked.
She accompanied her reflections with cheerful pictures and videos from the day, showing laughter, smiles, and unity.
“The boys held the family down here! Went on with the 5 km’s and just broke a lil’ sweat — nothing serious. I’m so proud of us! This is what healing looks like: re-creating new traditions and making new memories as just the four of us.”
Through shared moments and new traditions, Ratile and her children are learning to embrace joy again, together.
