A listener has shared that her husband was involved in a serious car accident, which left him with a permanent injury to his leg.
Since the accident, she says he has become increasingly insecure and fears that she might leave him.
He is currently saving for lobola and has mentioned the possibility of having another child. She feels she is not ready, but he interprets this as a lack of commitment on her part.
Reaching out to The Best in the City, she wants to know whether there are any blind spots in their relationship that she might be overlooking.
“My partner and I have been together for 3 years. Last year, he was involved in a terrible car accident. The doctors did their best to save his leg, and while it wasn’t amputated, he now walks with a limp, and he also struggles to use his one arm fully.
“I still love him deeply and see a future with him, but his insecurity is overwhelming. He constantly fears that I will leave him, but I keep telling him I am not going anywhere. I usually keep my private life off social media, but lately, I’ve been posting pictures of us and tagging him, hoping it reassures him of my commitment.
“He is working hard to save for lobola and has been talking about having a second baby. We already have a son, and i’ve told him it’s too soon for another. My saying this makes him feel like I am avoiding fully committing.
“I keep reminding him that he is my love, my partner, and we are in this journey of life together, for the long haul. How can I calm his fears and help him honestly believe that I’m not leaving, I am here to stay? His insecurity is beginning to weigh heavily on me.”
