Jane Etta Pitt, the mother of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, has passed away at the age of 84.
Her death was announced by her granddaughter, Sydney Pitt, in an emotional tribute on social media.
According to her obituary, Jane Pitt died on Tuesday, 5 August. She is survived by her husband, Bill Pitt, and their three children: Brad, Doug, and Julie.
Sydney Pitt, Doug’s daughter, shared a heartfelt post on Instagram celebrating her grandmother’s life.
She described Jane as a woman whose love was limitless, recalling how she spent a “special day” with each of her 14 grandchildren every year.
Sydney wrote, “She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat… I don’t know how we move forward without her. But I know she’s still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird.”
Jane Pitt, a former elementary school teacher, raised her family in Springfield, Missouri. Her obituary highlighted her passion for art and her close relationship with her grandchildren. While she and her husband generally stayed out of the public eye, they were occasionally seen on the red carpet with their son, including at the 2012 Oscars.
