South African sprinter Bayanda Walaza achieved a double gold victory in the 100m and 200m at the World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.

South African athlete Bayanda Walaza has further cemented his status as a prodigious talent, completing a sprint double at the World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr.
The 19-year-old, already a reigning world U20 champion, added the 200 metres gold medal to his collection, clocking an impressive time of 20.63 seconds.
This victory follows his earlier triumph in the 100 metres at the Games, securing a remarkable sprint double.
Walaza’s recent accolades build upon an already impressive résumé, which includes dual gold medals in both the 100m and 200m events at the Junior World Championships held previously in South America.

The success for Team South Africa extended beyond the track. Aiden Smith clinched a gold medal in the men’s shot put, delivering a winning throw with his final attempt of the competition to edge out his rivals.
