Liverpool forward Diogo Jota (28) and his brother Andre, also a professional footballer, tragically died in a car accident in the province of Zamora, northwestern Spain, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the vehicle the brothers were travelling in veered off the road.
Witnesses who contacted emergency services reported seeing the car engulfed in flames, which subsequently spread to nearby vegetation.
Jota had recently married his partner, Rute Cardoso, on 22 June. The couple had three children.
Diogo Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 in a £41 million transfer.
He was a significant player for the Reds, scoring 65 goals in 182 appearances. During his time with the club, he contributed to their Premier League title win last season and lifted the FA Cup, Community Shield, and the Carabao Cup twice.
