Residents in Newlands, Albertville, Montgomery Park, and Albertskroon are advised to brace for significant water interruptions this Thursday, 3 July, as Johannesburg Water undertakes crucial infrastructure upgrades.
The planned shutdown, scheduled to last from 8 AM to 6 PM, will facilitate the connection of a new pressure-reducing valve (PRV) system.
This upgrade is a proactive measure designed to enhance long-term water service and improve the reliability of supply in the affected areas.
Johannesburg Water stated in a notice that “customers may experience low pressure to no water” during the interruption.
However, the utility emphasised that the upgrade would ultimately lead to “improved service delivery and continuity of water supply.”
Broader Maintenance by Rand Water Impacts Gauteng
Adding to the regional water outlook, Rand Water is currently conducting extensive maintenance work across parts of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and Tshwane.
This ongoing effort, which began in May and is set to conclude by 18 July, involves critical repairs and replacements to key components of Gauteng’s water infrastructure.
Work includes essential pipe repairs at the Eikenhof system and a vital valve replacement at the Zwartkopjes system.
