Mamelodi Sundowns have put South Africa on the map by winning their first FIFA Club World Cup against the South Korean team Ulsan HD.
The ‘Brazilians’ went up against Ulsan HD on just after midnight on Wednesday, beating them 1-0. Iqraam Reyners delivered the goal nine minutes before half-time, making the Cape Town-born striker the man of the match.
The CAF championship runner-ups secured R174 million for participating in the FIFA Club World Cup and an additional R36 million for their first victory.
This result has placed Masandawana at the top of Group F with three points after Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense played a goalless draw in an earlier kick-off.
Bafana Ba Style will take on German giants Dortmund on Saturday at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, at 6PM South African time.
