The community of Ratanda in Heidelberg is reeling after the shocking murder of Manqoba Ntombela, the revered founder of the iconic music group Woza Afrika. Ntombela was tragically shot multiple times while sitting in his car outside his home on Friday evening, according to the Ratanda South African Police Service (SAPS).
Ntombela was widely celebrated for his contributions to music, including the hit song “Istokvela.” Beyond his musical legacy, he was also a respected businessman, dedicated educator, and influential community leader.
At the time of his untimely death, Ntombela was actively involved in the Mazibuye Kasi Spaza Shops initiative, a program dedicated to empowering local business owners.
The motive behind the fatal shooting remains unknown, and police have launched an investigation into the matter.
