South African singer and reality TV star Phelo Bala, also known as Nkumanda, has revealed that he is ready to take on the next chapter of his journey by embarking on 30-day body transformation challenge.
Phelo recently started posting on social media following a hiatus due to a stint in rehab.
He also posted his certificate of completion, indicating that he completed a 6-month substance abuse recovery programme on the 27th of April 2025.
Touching on his physical change, Phelo said the challenge is about embracing discipline, pushing limits, and honouring the body God has blessed him with.
“For me, this journey is a reflection of my commitment to health, wellness, and living with intention. It’s about showing up for myself every day, knowing that growth happens when we step out of our comfort zones,” Phelo wrote on Instagram.
He also added words of encouragement to any of his followers who may be on a similar journey and said, “If you’re on a similar path—whether it’s fitness, sobriety, faith, or self-discovery—know that you’re not alone. Let’s walk this road together, one day at a time.”
According to reports, in late 2024, Phelo voluntarily admitted himself to a rehabilitation centre in Mpumalanga with the support of his family.
This was following the display of his increasingly erratic behaviour and strained family relationships on the hit reality TV show The Bala Family season 2.
Phelo has been open about his ongoing battle of living with severe depression.
