Former Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo “Shudu” Musida has revealed that she has completed her first year of her master’s degree at Columbia University in New York.
This follows the 28-year-old Limpopo-born beauty’s big move from South Africa to New York in August 2024.
To acknowledge her achievement, Shudu posted a montage of moments she spent on campus and wrote, “By God’s grace”.
In response to a flood of congratulatory messages from the likes of The Mommy Club star Nozipho Ntshangase, media personality Hulisani Ravele and former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie, Shudu said, “Thank you so much for the beautiful messages. Its honestly all God.”
According to reports, Shudu is pursuing a master’s degree in international affairs, focusing on economic and political development.
On the 6th of February 2025, Shudu announced that she was honoured to be appointed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as the Global Champion for Women and Girls.
She revealed that her first campaign in the role was focused on ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Shudu is also the author of a children’s book titled Shudu Finds Her Magic which tells the story of how she overcame sadness from bullying by her classmates and grew into an adult who learned to love herself.
