South African media personality Anele Mdoda has once again captured hearts after sharing more stunning pictures from her wedding day, captioning the post simply: “Wife Elect.”
The images, which radiate elegance, come days after the official confirmation of her marriage to Prince Bonelela Ngubengcuka ka Mgudlwa.
The couple was recently united in a traditional “Ukwamkelwa kwabakwenyana” ceremony – a deeply significant cultural rite that welcomes the groom into the bride’s family.
Held over the weekend in the presence of close family and friends, the ceremony was described as both intimate and rich in tradition.
This celebration follows the successful conclusion of lobola negotiations between the Mdoda and Mgudlwa families, marking a milestone in the couple’s journey.
While the traditional ceremony was a beautiful display of unity and heritage, both families noted that this is only the beginning, with more ceremonies — both traditional and civil — still to come.
In a joint statement, the families expressed their joy and support:
“We wish these two incredible people an eternal union, filled with love and fulfilment. We look forward to the next phase of their ceremonies, as this was just the initial step. In African culture we know, a groom never really concludes lobola but we are pleased that the Mgudlwa Royal House of the Abathembu Kingdom have honoured ooHlathi in bringing these two together, in this dignified traditional process.”
