South African Afro-soul singer Lerato “Lira” Molapo performed at the renowned Cape Town International Jazz Festival this past weekend on Saturday, 26 April.
Lira was reportedly overcome with emotion due to the love she received from her fans during her performance on Saturday night.
“I thought I’d have to give up singing, but I’ve been singing since last May, and being in front of the audience, I feel loved and supported. I really missed being on stage, and the audience had missed me…,” Lira told IOL Lifestyle before her performance.
She recently took to social media to acknowledge her milestone and wrote, “Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2025. 26 April 2025. What an EPIC night.”
This was Lira’s first major performance since she suffered a stroke in Frankfurt, Germany in 2022.
The stroke affected Lira’s ability to speak, read and write.
Lira has openly shared her healing journey and said she believes that her stroke was a blessing that gave her a second chance at life.
