This past weekend, Dr Musa Mthombeni, Liesl Laurie’s husband, teamed up with friends to throw her a surprise party commemorating a decade since she was crowned Miss South Africa.
“The years have flown by, but one thing remains undeniable: Liesl’s timeless beauty. A true generational queen. Watching you evolve has been one of my life’s greatest joys – like a bottle of fine wine, you only grow more exquisite and complex with time,” Dr Musa captioned a series of snaps from the celebration.
He added, “Thank you to her best friends for orchestrating everything perfectly, and to everyone who took the time to celebrate my girl. Here’s to the next 10 years and beyond! Bathathe Miss SA 2015.”
Liesl admitted she’d been completely fooled: “I thought I was going to a friend’s birthday party!” She thanked her loved ones for their secrecy, writing, “Shoutout to my people – especially my husband, @drmusamthombeni. I appreciate you, mfana wami.”
With playful suspicion, she added, “I saw almost everyone at this party in the week before, and not a single person slipped! You’re all terrifyingly good liars… though that might be useful one day. God has blessed me with the most incredible tribe. Love you all, my cuties.”
