Two American astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, embarked on a space mission in June 2024, initially planned to last just one week.
However, due to technical issues with their spacecraft, they ended up staying in space for an unexpected nine months.
After a successful rescue mission, the duo safely returned to Earth on 18 March 2025. Their SpaceX capsule made a swift re-entry through the Earth’s atmosphere, with four parachutes deploying to ensure a gentle splashdown off the coast of Florida.
In light of this extraordinary story, the Drive 959 team posed a question to its listeners:
“Have you ever experienced a work or business trip that went on longer than planned? Did it feel like you were stuck with your colleagues—or completely alone?”
Glen Lewis shared his own experience, recalling a trip some years ago when he was flying back from the UK and had to catch a connecting flight in Nairobi, Kenya.
As they approached Nairobi, the plane encountered inclement weather, making it impossible to land. On that particular day, Glen had two gigs scheduled in Johannesburg.
The flight was diverted to another town in Kenya, where they had to wait before eventually connecting to their destination. “I think I was in that airport for a good three hours, so I lost out on the gigs,” he said.
