South African rappers Siyabonga “Big Zulu” Nene and Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu have turned their rivalry into a collaboration with their newly released song “Abazazi Bafunani”.
According to a media statement from record label Virgin Music Group South Africa, the anthem merges raw lyricism with rich storytelling which is the essence of Maskandi and hip hop.
“This unexpected collaboration brings hard-hitting verses, charged emotions, and a beat that refuses to be ignored. The result? A powerful track that demands attention and solidifies their place at the top,” the statement reads.
“Abazazi Bafunani” dropped at midnight on Friday, 7 March 2025 and the music video also premiered on Channel O and YouTube.
Big Zulu has taken to Instagram to share snippets of the music video and to thank his fans for making it the biggest song in the country.
“Nkabi Nation siyabonga kakhulu Abazazi Bafunani. Biggest Song in the Country🇿🇦sitting on number 1 trending number 1 on YouTube 🇿🇦Siyabonga kakhulu uthando lunye,” Big Zulu wrote on Instagram.

In 2022, Big Zulu took jabs at Emtee when he dropped a diss track titled “150 Bars”.
Emtee retaliated on social media saying Big Zulu has no talent and wears fake designer clothes.
According to reports, Emtee eventually asked rapper Sjava to be a mediator and help the two to settle their differences.
