In an effort to draw affluent foreigners to the US, Donald Trump has stated that he will offer “gold cards” for $5 million each in exchange for permanent residency.
According to Trump, the programme seeks to draw in affluent people who can add to economic expansion and job creation while also helping to lower the national debt.
With the gold card, wealthy investors would have a route to US citizenship, Trump emphasised while addressing reporters in the Oval Office.
“It’s gonna be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people,” said Trump.
Asserting that all legal considerations had been taken into consideration, he expressed confidence in the plan and projected that up to a million of these permits could be sold. It is anticipated that the project will be launched in the upcoming two weeks.
