Tributes have poured in for Manaka Ranaka following the untimely passing of her 24-year-old daughter Katlego “KG” Ranaka on Thursday, 23 January.
The Ranaka family confirmed the sad news in a statement they released to the public via social media on Saturday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the sorrowful news of the passing of our cherished Katlego ‘KG’ Ranaka on the 23rd of January, 2025
“The Ranaka family humbly requests your prayers and respect for their privacy during this profoundly challenging time,” the statement reads.
Katlego was a graduate of the National School Of The Arts and had appeared alongside her family members on the hit reality show The Ranakas.
Although Manaka hasn’t said much, she has expressed her grief and sorrow in a series of posts on Instagram.
Meanwhile, her followers and industry peers have flooded her comments section with messages of support.
Real Housewives of Johannesburg star Brinnette Seopela said: “I’m so sorry Mommy.”
Real Housewives of Durban star Zama Ngcobo said: “Am so sorry love.”
Scandal! actress Pasi Koetle said: “I am so sorry my sis.”
Television presenter Laconco said: “I’m shaking. Phephisa my hun.”
Actress Samela Tyelbooi also sent profound words of comfort and said: “Words fail. Love and prayers are with you always my love.”
A heartbroken Thandokuhle Ranaka, who is Katlego’s cousin, wrote, “Never did I think that this day would come so soon. My heart is broken, you have left me with a wound that I don’t know how to heal. Until I find the words, till we meet again…”
Katlego’s memorial service and funeral details are yet to be announced.
“Further details regarding her farewell will be communicated in due course,” the Ranaka family said in a statement.
Katlego leaves behind her four-year-old son Mpho.
