In Washington, DC, President Donald Trump took the oath of office for a second term. After being president from 2017 to 2021, this was Trump’s second term in office.
Trump became the first US president to be charged with and found guilty of felonies while he was out of office from 2021 to 2025.
A mass deportation plan, a reversal of outgoing US President Joe Biden’s clean-energy policy, a halt to a law banning TikTok, and tariffs against major trading partners like China, Mexico, and Canada were among the sweeping measures that Trump had promised ahead of his inauguration.
Trump warned of the turmoil and devastation left by the previous administration, but he also pledged to restore the American dream in his 29-minute inauguration speech.
