South African soccer legend Jabu Mahlangu is a proud father after his daughter, Onke Mahlangu, passed matric with flying colours.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star praised his daughter for earning a bachelor’s degree pass, which marks a proud milestone for their family.
Onke is the first person in the Mahlangu family to attend university.
“I’m so Proud of You. You’ve Worked so Hard for this. We keep Pushing. University Here we Come. GOD DID,” Mahlangu expressed.
The matric class of 2024 achieved a record-breaking 87.3% pass rate, up from 82.9% in 2023, marking the highest success rate in South African history.
Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube lauded the students’ remarkable performance, declaring:
“[This] should be a moment of great pride and celebration for all of us… I am proud to announce that in 2024, 615,429 learners passed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) – more than any other time in our history,” she said during the results announcement.
