869 illegal and counterfeit products valued at R1 795 000 were confiscated by Gauteng Police during a counterfeit goods operation.
Brand protectors and the Gauteng Visible Policing Team, which handles illegal and counterfeit goods, carried out an operation in Randburg, Johannesburg District, on Wednesday.
Three suspects were arrested for dealing with counterfeit and illicit goods. A total of 896 illegal and counterfeit items, including R1 795 000 worth of illegal apparel, shoes, watches, and cell phone accessories, were seized by the police.
The suspects who were apprehended will shortly appear in the magistrate’s court. The police claim that the operation shows their dedication to protecting the public from fake goods and shielding customers from inferior products.
