Residents of a Midrand complex Broadwalk Urban Village, situated on Broadwalk Street that were forced to flee due to a fire have been placed in alternative housing.
By 9 PM, there was a distress call, and firefighters from the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) raced to the scene.
A few locals who were hurt while attempting to flee the fire have been transported to the closest medical institution. Social media users shared pictures and videos of the blazing fire early in the morning.

The fire destroyed the complex’s second level, but according to Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Xolile Khumalo, no deaths have been confirmed.
