Former Isibaya actress Gcina Mkhize is determined to fight tooth and nail for her auctioned home.
This after Mkhize shared an emotional video explaining her situation on social media this week, revealing that her home was auctioned and the new owner has begun renovations on the property.
Videos of construction workers removing the windows and doors from Mkhize’s home, which she shares with her children were circulating as the actress pleaded for help.

While some heeded Mkhize’s call for help by starting a Back-A-Buddy crowdfunding campaign to save her home, others felt the actress was in the wrong because the new owner acquired the property legally and through the correct channels.
In an interview with TshisaLive, Mkhize shared that she defaulted on her bond repayments after she lost work in 2021.
Mkhize says she defaulted on payments by about R200 000 and her home was subsequently auctioned for R700 000.
The new owner had the property registered on his name in January 2024 and says Mkhize has been living in his home for the past 9 months, with no intention of leaving.
However, Mkhize says she will not leave until a court order states she needs to do so.
“I will move out when the court tells me to move out. I need to go to court and present my case and then if the ruling says I should move out, I will. If the court doesn’t say I should leave, I won’t leave.
I will not run away like a coward. I will stay here and fight for what I believe is rightfully mine. I have no intention of leaving my home. I will not leave because of someone who paid R701,000.
If I have to die here, I will.
Why did he buy the house knowing there are occupants? That is arrogance. He should not make it my problem. I did not ask him to buy my house. I didn’t even get the money.”
According to TshisaLive, the new owner offered Gcina Mkhize alternative accommodation, a room at the back of the property but she has refused.
He says he will continue to renovate the property he bought whether she cooperates or not because he is in his legal rights to do so.
