The ANC’s Youth League, led by Collin Malatji, marched in KZN to demand more job opportunities.
Just over a week ago, there was a bit of a scuffle between the EFF Student Command and ANC youth at the same event as they both tried to gain support in student political circles.
The MK Party youth have also been making strides in these circles recently.
The Siz The World team recently chatted with some young people about the role of youth politics in the broader political scene and asked them if they feel that their voices are being heard by their youth leaders.
Sol Phenduka noted that youth involvement in politics plays a significant role in society.
“Take the EFF, for example—they have a strong following on college campuses. I’m not sure if this support is reflected in the polls, but when issues affect young people, it’s often the youth organisations, like the EFF, that take action.
“Remember the fees must fall movement? That was a prime example of youth activism in action.”
Additionally, Sol highlighted that the issue with youth involvement in other political parties is that they often just follow the party line, even if it doesn’t truly represent the views of young people.
