South African actress, television personality, businesswoman, accountant and human rights activist Nomzamo Mbatha is celebrating winning Best African Actress at the Septimius Awards in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Mbatha won the award for her role as Queen Nandi in ‘Shaka iLembe’.
Shaka ILembe took six years to complete, involving historians, professors, and family descendants such as the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu and the present monarch, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. Set in the 1700s, Shaka Ilembe depicts the narrative of the dramatic ascension of the legendary Zulu ruler.
The Septimius Awards is an international award ceremony that recognizes feature films, documentaries, short films, animations, television series, and screenplays.
