Miss Universe Nigeria has invited Chidimma Adetshina to participate in their 2024 pageant, following the controversy of her participation in the Miss SA 2024 pageant.
This follows Adetshina’s withdrawal from the South African contest after a Home Affairs probe into her citizenship found prima facie evidence that her mother may have committed fraud and identity theft to secure Chidimma’s South African nationality.
As a result of Adetshina’s mother’s alleged actions, an innocent South African mother, whose identity may have been stolen, suffered as a result because she could not register her child.
Adetshina’s father is Nigerian and she claimed her mother, who is of Mozambican descent, was born in South Africa.
However, Home Affairs has extended the scope of its investigation into the matter, and criminal charges will be laid against the person/s who committed the identity theft and fraud.
Following developments in Adetshina’s South African citizenship and her subsequent withdrawal from the Miss SA 2024, Miss Universe Nigeria extended the invitation to the 23-year-old law student, in a bid to show her there are other opportunities to showcase her talent, grace and beauty.
“As a Nigerian by heritage, we would like to formally invite you to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant.
This is an opportunity to represent your father’s native land on an international stage, and we believe you would be an outstanding contender.
We encourage you to consider this opportunity and take part in a competition that celebrates the strength, intelligence and diversity of Nigerian women.
Should you wish to participate, all you need to do is respond to this invitation, and we will be delighted to guide you through the next steps.”
