Last night, Mdumiseni Ntuli, the Chief Whip of the ANC, appeared as a guest on NewzRoom Afrika.
During his interview, he pointed out that South Africa’s failure to include most of its population in the economy played a role in the party losing its majority status.
Ntuli also raised concerns about the quality of ANC membership and its impact on leadership.
This morning, Sizwe Dhlomo and Mfundo Mabalane had a lively discussion about Ntuli’s comments. They asked listeners, “Why do you think the leading party is attracting the wrong kind of people as members?”
“There is something radically wrong with the state of the ANC. Both in terms of the quality of leadership and membership.
“The second issue is the failure of the economy. The failure can be equally appropriated to the lack of leadership.
“The failure of the economy to absorb as many South Africans as possible had an impact on the performance of the ANC.
“The third one is the state of governance. More especially at a local government level.
