Missing Julian Otto was found in a stormwater drain two days after he went missing from his Pretoria neighbourhood.
The 22-year old man from East Lynne went missing on Monday, 29 July after reportedly requesting an e-hailing service to Wonderboom.
Otto is said to have cancelled the ride, and was found on Wednesday, 31 July an hour away from his home in a stormwater drain in Montana Park.
It is unclear at this stage how Julian found himself inside the drain, as he was severly dehydrated and disoriented when rescuers pulled him out of the drain.
Julian Otto was found when a passerby’s dog started sniffing and barking at the drain where Otto was stuck.
It took rescuers from the Sinoville Firefighting Organisation more than 40 minutes to lift the heavy concrete that Julian was trapped under.
Firefighters could not break the concrete slab because Julian could have been severely injured or killed if the concrete fell on him.
The space that he was found in was extremely small and it is suspected that he had entered the drain elsewhere, and crawled into the space, as he was desperately looking for a way out.
Otto received medical attention and is said to be in a stable condition.
