Unilever South Africa is urgently recalling a batch of Knorr Brown Onion Gravy after it was discovered that packets mistakenly contain ingredients from the Knorr Professional brown Sauce Base.
As a result, the affected batch contains cows milk and soy as allergens, both of which are not declared on the ingredients list of the Knorr Brown Onion Gravy packaging.
Knorr, Unilever’s largest food brand in South Africa have urged the public to urgently return the product to the nearest retailer for a full refund.
The two batches being recalled are:
- BB 11 Dec 2025 KM 4163 E14A
- BB 12 Dec 2025 KM 4164 E14A
Consumers who have purchased the product are advised to not consume the contents as people who are allergic to cows milk or soy may experience symptoms.
Should the products from the affected batches be consumed without prior knowledge of the recall, consumers are urged to seek medical attention and then inform Unilever.
The Unilever South Africa Consumer Care Line is 0860 331 441, alternatively make use of the Consumer Engagement Centre on WhatsApp on 067 429 7040.
