A worried listener has shared that his mother has started a new relationship, and she appears to be happy. However, her new partner wants to move into their house, and he is feeling uneasy about it.
He brought this up with his mom because the last time her partner moved in, things turned toxic. Unfortunately, his mom is not taking his concerns seriously.
Now, he’s reaching out to The Best T in the City with Tbose for advice. He wants to know if there are any blind spots he might be overlooking.
“My mother recently started a new relationship. We are all happy for her. Last week, my 16-year-old sister called me and alerted me that my mother’s new man was seemingly moving into our home. My sister sounded distressed, as this would not be the first time. The last time our mother did this, I still lived at home, and her ex was emotionally abusive towards all of us.
“So, I tried talking to my mother about this new move, and she told me that it’s her house and she can invite anyone. She did, however, also say that this man treats her well and that she is happier than she has ever been. My younger sisters are just not comfortable, they are still traumatized by losing their father, and how emotionally abusive our mother’s ex was.
“Things are tense at home; how can I make my mother see how too soon this is? I mean it is barely been 6 months, since they started dating. I hate to say it, but it seems like my mom is impulsive when it comes to love. Should I move back home temporarily, just so my younger sisters are comfortable? Or will this be seen as too excessive a step? Or is there a blindspot I am not seeing here?”
