Former Idols SA finalist Brenden Praise recently sat down for an exclusive interview on My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose.
During the chat with Tbose, Brenden opened up about the decision he and his wife, Mpoomy Ledwaba, made to tie the knot at a young age, admitting that it wasn’t an easy choice. They got married in 2017.
“We went to see both parents and funny enough her parents were cool. I think at the time people knew me from Idols so when we met her parents, they probably had an idea of who I was and knew I would take care of their daughter.
Brenden noted that his mom and his wife hit it off from the onset. “There was a lot of similarities there were a lot of similarities between them. We had to get married.”
Going into their marriage, they wanted to build a life together, as they were already spending a lot of time together.
Even though he wasn’t fully prepared, Brenden said deciding to get married wasn’t a tough call. “
“We didn’t ever think about and we just wanted to be together. Because we are Christians, there were a lot of things that were limiting how far we could get together. And we thought let’s respect our parents and let’s give it a go.
“It was easy because ultimately we knew that was the final step. A lot of it made sense, we get to live together and build together.
“We understood each other and what we were trying to do. I understand the journey of going out on a limb and she understands that if we stick together.”
Looking back, Brenden admitted there were things he would have done differently.
“We were not ready as people, and there was a lot of work that I had to do. But in the same breath, having someone you can reflect on is helpful. The thing about marriage is that it forces you to look at yourself,” said the singer in part.
