Panyaza Lesufi, the former MEC for Education and chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng, has been re-elected as premier.
On Friday, June 14, at the inaugural meeting of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Lesufi was elected without a challenge after being nominated for prime minister.

Morakane Mosupyoe, a former MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, was also elected speaker of the Gauteng Legislature without a challenge.
